Am I eligible for Tribal Lifeline?

You’re eligible for Lifeline services if you live in Tribal lands and participate in any qualifying program, including Tribal programs, or if your income falls below the 135% poverty threshold.

Live on Tribal Lands

Tribal lands include any federally recognized Indian tribe’s reservation, Pueblo, or colony, including former reservations in Oklahoma, Alaska Native regions, Hawaiian Home Lands, or Indian Allotments.

Participate in Tribal Programs

Tribal programs include Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance, Head Start, Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families , and Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations

Low-Income

You qualify if your current income is at or below the 135% Federal poverty threshold for your household size. Due to COVID-19, you only need to provide proof of your current income.

Tribal Head Start

Head Start programs promote school readiness of low-income children by supporting the child development. Individuals that participate in Tribal Headstart must also meet income qualifications to qualify for Safeline.

Income Qualification

To qualify based on income only, or to meet the income requirement if you participate in Head Start, your current income must be 135% or less than the federal poverty guideline. The poverty guidelines differ by household size and state.

Due to COVID-19, you only need to provide proof that your current income falls below the threshold.
